Seeing as Tigger and Golly have their own pages, I want my own aswell. Welcome to my pages. Read on below where I introduce myself, or follow the link to see my photo album. If you need any guidance on being a really successful cat, and training your human so that it's wrapped around your little paw, then click on the link and read my guide to being a highly successful cat.
Well folks, here I am. My name is Mabel and I was born in June 2001. Mum found me two weeks after Tigger went missing while she was out searching for him. She found me with my sister Molly in a high walled box underneath the recycling bins at the supermarket. I sensed that someone was coming so I put on my loudest kitten cry, and very soon Mum arrived on the scene.
I don't think Mum was really ready for another addition to her four legged family, especially so soon after Tigger going missing, so it looked as though the both of us would be found a home somewhere. However, when we were checked over at the vets they thought we were only about four weeks old. Mum had kind of guessed this because she had to help us at feeding time, and also because our eyes were still blue. Luckily for us it mean't that we stayed with her for a little while longer.
During this time Mum let herself fall in love with us, but wasn't sure about taking both of us on, so I did a deal with her. I'd stay with her if she guaranteed that Molly would go to a very good home, not just to someone who answered an advert. Molly moved to Ipswich to live with an old schoolfriend of Mum's, and in the process gained an adopted brother, Thomas, who's just four weeks older than us. Sadly, Molly had a stand off with a car on 31st August 2002 and didn't survive. She is now waiting at Rainbow Bridge until she can once again be with her human.
Molly going off to her new home left me feeling a bit strange, so I made sure I snuggled up in the crook of Mum's arm that night to feel safe. I soon settled down with Golly's help, and in August we had another new arrival - Mungo - so I had a playmate while Golly was out doing her thing.
I've got quite a quiet nature, and don't push to get attention. I'm good friends with Golly, and I can usually be found playing with Mungo, although if he starts being silly I give him a pat with my paw to put him in his place. Mum calls me her Queen Mab because I'm often wearing an aloof expression. She also calls me Mablet Bablet when I'm being a bit of a pickle. I'm not a big wildlife hunter, unlike Golly and Mungo, although I do like the occasional play with a mouse or a bird. Overall, I tend to stick to the more fun things in life like catching leaves, or playing with the many toys in our toy box.
Now, is that a leaf blowing past?
